New Macs a breath of fresh air

The 2011 revive of the MacBook Air range has established great reviews so far from IT Professionals, including those at PCPro. Both   the 11 and 13inch models have benefited from Sandy Bridge processors, both packing a low-voltage Core i5 processors. The 13inch Air incorporates the Core i5-2557M processor which boasts a core clock speed of 1.7GHz that can be boosted to 2.7GHz when necessary. The turbo boost works in Windows as well as OS X Lion. APPLE's NEW KEYBORAD

Apple has patented a plan for a keyless keyboard. The glass topped drawing features no moving parts but instead works using audio and piezo-electric sensors. The system compares sounds made by tapping of the screen to a database of autograph determining which key is being used. The keyboard would still display the traditional Qwerty keys but three sensors within the keyboard would be “sufficiently precise” to triangulate the location of the tap said the patent

Apple have discontinued their white MacBook

Apple have withdrawed their white MacBook  and have in its place announced updates to the Air and mini range.The Air now features a backlit keyboard, Thunderbolt interconnect and has been updated with Intel's latest Core i5 and i7 processors.The Air has also come down in price and now costs the same as the last generation of MacBook, £849 for the 11inch version. The 13inch version starts at £1,099. The new Air and Mini are both accessible from nowadays.

Sky Go app for iPad out now

Sky customers can now watch sports, some movies, news and ESPN on their iPad, iPod Touch or iPhone.Subscribers to Sky can now download Sky Go from the Apple app store for free.  The Sky Go app lets you watch selected channels with the option to pause and rewind live tv.

Xbox 360 update released

Microsoft have out an update for the Xbox 360 today, insufficiently, the update adds no new features, but is future to prepare your console for helpful improvements. Of the new features, perhaps accessible as soon as next week, one is expected to be Avatar Kinect. This will allow users to take part in helpful multiple themed chat rooms as their chosen avatar, which will move it's mouth as you speak.

Mac OS X Lion launches yesterday

Apple complete last night that the new version of their operating system, Mac OS X Lion, will launch today.The Lion will take a lot of features of the iOS operating sytem, such as a 1 click bazaar for the app store, better gesture integration and a homescreen alike to the iPad which allows users to 'swipe through' apps. Apple calls this 'Launch Pad'.

8inch Arnova available soon(Asda to stock £99 tablet)

Asda are to stock an 8inch Arnova tablet for only £99, making it one of the cheapest devices on the market. The Anroid 2.1 powered device boasts 4GB of internal memory, built in Wi-Fi and a SDHC slot for extra memory. Tech specs point to  800x600 TFT screen and a lithium polymer battery. Apple has released a software update

Apple has released a software update to fix a security flaw in their iOS system. The vulnerability was first exposed ten days ago when the website,  www.jailbreakme.com, released a code that could be used to modify the iOS operating system for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owners to allow them to 'jail break' their devices. Jail breaking is a term used to describe a way bypassing Apple only approved applications and allows devices to download unapproved programmes or to use alternative network carriers.

GOOGLE BEATS ANALYST SALE

Google reported earnings today after the market closed, besting analysts' potential for profits and for earnings for each share. The search oversize earned $2.5 billion on revenue (after traffic gaining costs were removed) of $6.92 billion. Deducting the cost of covering employee stock, Google's earnings came in a $8.74 a share. According to First Call, analysts had expected $7.86 for earnings per share on revenue of $6.55 billion. In the year-ago phase, Google earned $1.8 billion on revenue after traffic gaining costs of $5.09 billion were removed.

MICROSOFT PATCHES (TUESDAY)

Microsoft has out only four security updates in July's Patch Tuesday. These address 22 vulnerabilities in Windows and Office. The four bulletins patched issues in all versions of the Windows operating system and in Microsoft Visio 2003 Service Pack 3, Microsoft said in its Patch Tuesday advisory, released July 12. Of the patches, only one has been rated “critical.” The remaining three are rated "important," according to Microsoft. Security experts ranked Microsoft bulletin MS11-053, which addressed a critical vulnerability in the Windows Bluetooth stack on Windows Vista and Windows 7, as the highest priority. Attackers could exploit the vulnerability by crafting and sending specially crafted Bluetooth packets to the goal system to remotely take control, Microsoft said in its bulletin suggested.

ROBOT FOOTBALL WORLD CUP

The UK robot football team have been knocked out of the 2011 RoboCup, held in Istanbul over the weekend. The four strong Edinferno squad, entered by Edinburgh University, went out in the group stages. Edinferno took part in the Standard Platform League of the RoboCup which sees all teams use bipedal robots made by French firm Aldebaran Robotics. There are four other leagues covering software-only simulated soccer as well as small, medium and humanoid teams of robots. The RoboCup is the largest gathering of robots on the planet. This is the first time the UK has entered a team in the competition and the team's coach has promised to return next year with a much improved side.                                                    ...

APPLE Hackers have released a virus in software

Hackers have released a virus in software from  Apple  that security experts said could be broken by criminals looking to gain remote control over iPhones, iPads and iPod Touch devices. The security error in Apple's iOS operating system came to light on Wednesday as the website   www.jailbreakme.com   released code that Apple customers can use to modify the iOS operating system through a process known as "jail breaking." Some Apple   customers choose to jail break their devices so they can download and run applications that are not approved by Apple or use iPhone phones on networks of carriers that are not accepted by Apple. Security experts warned that criminal hackers could download that code, reverse engineer it to identify a hole in iOS security and build a piece of hateful software within a few days. TWO NEW APPLE I-PHONES IN SEPTEMBER.

According to rumours (Apple Intelligence), consumers may well see two new iPhones in September. Quoting an 'iPhone source', 9 to 5, state that there will be two noticeably different devices appearing in the Autumn. One will be a low end range to address the cheaper robot market, and the second a higher end device with an all new design. at the moment, Apple sell, the lower end iPhone 3GS and the latest iPhone 4 models, so will September see the iPhone 4S as the lower end and the iPhone 5 as the latest must-have? It is thought that the iPhone 5 will fit in a faster processor, and also better camera. Rumours are also rife that Apple may be introducing a 3G iPod Touch later in the year, a data-only service which would allow users to make voice and video calls, through the likes of Skype, to connect to social networks or play games online. Apple only just still pre-announce any new products and until they do, rumour and speculation will continue.

LION OS READY TO LAUNCH IN NEXT COMING WEEK

  Apple store management have been advised to do RAM upgrades to certain Mac models by tomorrow, (Sunday 10th July). The launch of the Lion iOS is expected to come first the influx of the new range of MacBook Airs, which are expected to contain Sandy Bridge chip technology and Thunderbolt ports. Lion will be available as a download from the Mac App store for $29.99 ONLY

ZUCKERBERG said that the new Facebook-Skype feature was; "only possible because of the social communications that already exists". Skype is in the process of being bought by Microsoft, which is a major shareholder in Facebook. Are start, the new feature will allow two users to connect nose to nose, but, unlike Google's + system, group video calls will not be yet be available to Facebook users
